I have a chance on a very good deal on a 2010 Evinrude 150HP e-tec. This motor is like brand new very low hours. 25 " shaft. I like the boat but haven't gotten a quote yet? they still have one or two in stock. I don't know if they will sell it to me with out a motor. Just north of Toronto Ontario Canada.
Any thoughts?

I have the same setup 2012 SD187OB with Etec 150.
I find it more than acceptable. Good hole shot. Top speed is 42 to 45 mph (on GPS) depending on load. 3500 rpm gets about 26mph and 4000 about 31mph.
They are clean burning no blue smoke. Once in a while I get very faint smell from the exaust but only while trolling with a strong back wind. I don't think it's any worst than a 4 strokes, just different smell.
I can't tell much about fuel economy because my previous boats were smaller lightweight aluminum fishing boats with smaller engines. Read that economy is good and to be honest I really haven't been tracking how much fuel I'm using. Having too much fun.
I'm very happy with the combination and I sing it's praise to my friends and family.

@cottagecottage, a 25" shaft (long shaft) is the right length to fit the transom on the SD187------------------------------------------------------------------------------2010 Hurricane SS 188 OB

The motor I have the chance to purchase has a 25" shaft

If the E-tec fits and is a good deal, the E-tec is a great 2 stroke engine. I have a 2000 Johnson 150 2 stroke on my SD 217 and the 150 hp power is fine My OB is a workhorse, but If/when I have to replace the E-tec will be a very strong contender.
