I have one of the dash screws stripped that holds down the plastic dash below the instrument panel on my new 2012 237I/O. The screw can just come out We have tried changing the angle a little to see if would bite on something but so far no luck. Any suggestions on how we can secure the roght side of the plastic dash? we thought about trying some plumbers tape around the screw to see if it will catch in the hole.

Usually there are wood blocks positioned for the screws to go in to that are adhered to the back of the helm, this way the surface screws are not anchoring in to just fiberglass. The backer block probably wasn't positioned quite right and that's why the screw came out. I have the same boat as you and one of my top instrument cluster/dashboard screws came away from the helm base. My dealer had no problem fixing it by positioning a new backer block properly. You should give your dealer a call.2012 SD237 I/O Mercruiser 5.0L MPI ECT/ Bravo 32012 Load Rite Elite Tandem axle trailer

Two suggestions: A spring steel "speed nut" from the auto supply will engage the threads of the existing screw behind the fiberglass, or substitute a stainless bolt with nut and washer that matches the heads of the other screws.
