Could I troll with either a 115 hp or a 150 hp without damaging the motor. Could I put a kicker motor on a 226 f ?

@TAG, I don't believe there is sufficient space to add a kicker there. You can get a trolling plate (http://www.iboats.com/Davis-Happy-Troller-Large-Trolling-Plate-f-IO-s-All-Outboards-50hp-Larger/dm/cart_id.406299549--session_id.925422819--view_id.1026471)
Or using trolling bags http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9km9WgxyF-k
Both work. Make sure you lift the trolling plate or bring in the trolling bag before taking off or you could damage it them.
One thing be cautious of however is on 2 strokes particularly, if you troll at low speeds you may build up excessive amounts of carbon in your engine if doing so for long periods of time. You can easily use something like Seafoam to decarb your engine.
Hope this helps.

The 4-stroke motors are not bothered by slow running. My 115 Yamaha as installed runs slow enough to troll and I think I can even slow it down a bit more with the air screw. You may not need a plate.
