Thinking of putting down riggers on a 226f. Other than the area behind the helm seat has anyone put one anywhere else? Like at mid entry gate?

Mounting down-riggers on most of the Hurricane line is a challenge in my opinion (as rod holders can be too). It seems like when Hurricane designed most of the "fishing option" models, they must have thought that fishing would only be done at the pedestal seat(s) on the front deck. The rest of the upper deck really hasn't been designed to accomodate gunwale mounted accessories (except maybe cup holders!).Since you have a FunDeck model, it might be easier and more versatile using a rail mount down-rigger base. Although it's kinda hard to tell by the pictures, it looks like you have unencumbered rail space near the starboard side of the boat in near the rear, right behind the helm seat. Here's some rail mounts that I found.Bert's Customer Tackle offers:Cannon's rail mount:Scotty's rail mountHope this helps! Please let us know what you end up doing!2012 SD237 I/O Mercruiser 5.0L MPI ECT/ Bravo 32012 Load Rite Elite Tandem axle trailer
