Helm seat removal.

I have a 2012 SD 237 which is probably similar, if not the same hull and seat design as yours.Unfortunately, the boat is in storage for the winter, so I can't see specifics, but I happen to have some pictures I used from another forum post that might help.If your seat and bracket arrangement is different from mine, you might be on the right track in removing the storage box. That way the entire seat assembly would be removed. If it's the same, it looks like you can just remove the seat from the bracket by removing the bolts that attach the bottom of the seat to the bracket.Hope this helps.2012 SD237 I/O Mercruiser 5.0L MPI ECT/ Bravo 32012 Load Rite Elite Tandem axle trailer

Just had my helm seat redone on my 2002 SD237. ON front of the seat base there is a glove box door. Remove the six #8 screws from the glove box frame and remove the glove box. Once that is done there are four bots and nuts securing the seat to the base.
Remove those four nuts and bolts, and the seat will come right out. It is a little easier with two people, one securing the bolts under the seat with a wrench (I think they were 7/16") and the other person sticking there arm in the glove box opening and ratcheting the nuts off the mounting bolts.
Pretty easy job, I lost some time because the glove box didn't come out with no resistance. I was concerned that it was somehow secured to the base with some unseen screws.

Helm seat removal continued!
Sorry, hit the wrong button and previous post was posted. Could not find a way to edit it. Here is the end of the story.
Glove box was just a tight fit in the hole cut into the fiberglass base. I sprayed some WD-40 and it came right out. The bolts and nut removal required a 7/16" or 1/2" wrench and socket.
For what it is worth, I had my whole seat restitched. If threads weakened and seams started to split, the weak or aged thread will split at other areas of the seat. New thread everywhere should give you years of service, and you won't have to deal with split seams for awhile.

Thanks for the help cjjjdeck and callforbids. Sounds like I was on the right track with the storage box. Tried the bottom of the seat bolts and they needed too much persuasion. Thanks for the pics too.
