Where is the best place to mount a transponder on the stern of a 2014 196 FD?

I put mine in the bilge inside of a 4" PVC coupler silicones to the bottom filled with water and capped
it is very accurate

I assume you want to install a transducer for a sonar unit. Did you have a preference on the type of transducer you were thinking of using; transom mount vs. in-hull (the type that sonny55 describes) vs. through hull?
