wrong prop?

1991 Ff196 with Yamaha 130 2 stroke and a 13.25” 15 pitch prop. The boat runs good and revs up fine in nuetral but will only plane if fuel tank is nearly empty and there are fewer than four passengers. Fully fueled (30 gallons) with four passengers RPM tops out at 4300. What prop should I be using?

Not too concerned about the hole shot, just want to be able to plane out fully loaded. 9" pitch?1991 Fundeck FD196 Fish and Fun1990 Yamaha 130 2 stroke

From what I could find, looks like your Max RPM should be around 5,800 for your motor. So, you are way too low with your current set-up.
As a general rule, every 1-inch change in prop pitch yields about a 200 RPM change. More pitch will reduce RPM and less pitch will increase RPM.2012 SD237 I/O Mercruiser 5.0L MPI ECT/ Bravo 32012 Load Rite Elite Tandem axle trailer -
I will try to borrow a 14x9 or 14x10 from the marina next time out. I will let you know how it goes.1991 Fundeck FD196 Fish and Fun1990 Yamaha 130 2 stroke

The marina refused to loan me a prop but suggested I pitch down one size. I bought a 14x11 to install once the water warms up. Here's hoping!1991 Fundeck FD196 Fish and Fun1990 Yamaha 130 2 stroke

After changing from 15 pitch to 11 all is well. Hitting 6000 rpm with two fatties and 20 gallons of fuel aboard.1991 Fundeck FD196 Fish and Fun1990 Yamaha 130 2 stroke

So a 3" reduction in pitch resulted in a 700rpm increase under identical loads.1991 Fundeck FD196 Fish and Fun1990 Yamaha 130 2 stroke
