Rub Rail

Finally getting around to detailing boat and have found the sealant above/below the rub rail is failing.  Does anyone have any thoughts on recommending a proper sealant type for repair ie silicone, clear, white, other?

    Any videos I've see on rub rail replacement are using 3M 5200 Adhesive/sealant on the base.  It's a excellent marine grade product.
