unknow 201 OB item 2014

Just above the left side switch cluster on a 2014 201OB is a item I can't determine its use. It is a round hole with a screw off cap on the flat part of the dash and below the gauges. What is the purpose of this item?

Sounds like the fill port for your hydraulic steering system.  Look behind the console, and you should see a tube running from this opening to the steering cylinder.  Post a photo and I can tell for sure.

Thank you Ernest T. I did confirm it is the hydraulic port. I don't have any other instructions on how to check the fluid and when to fill. Is there a document or manual that will explain how to?

Many of the systems on Hurricane boats are SeaStar.  You can find instructions here:http://www.seastarsolutions.com/support-2/installation-manuals-controls-cables/installation-manuals/seastar-installation-manuals/
 
I think they recommend filling it pretty much all the way up to the fill cap.  If you are experiencing any problems with the steering, you may want to purge the system first to be sure there is no air in the lines.  It is not hard to do, but you need a helper and 2 quarts of fluid.

I am not having issues now but it was one of those things on the boat that Hurricane didn't see fit to provide literature on.  Time to dig in and figure it all out before any problems do show up.  Thanks for the link and info!
