Did you look closely at the back of the gauge? Usually the connections are marked or even molded into the housing.

It would help if you post your year and model Hurricane.
If the gauge is just a speedometer by itself, usually it has two wires, a positive and negative, to power the illumination lamp. The other connection is a tube that supplies air pressure to the back of the gauge to move the needle to show the appropriate speed you are going.
Often the color of the wires to the speedometer is dark blue = Positive; black = Negative.
If you have a combination gauge that includes other gauges with the speedometer, or a GPS based speedometer, then you'll have to look at a wiring diagram for your boat. I know someone that can help you with that if you need it.
