Ski locker door strut

When I bought my 188 ob, the ski locker hatch (side opening style) does not hat a gas strut to keep open and I am worried a foot is eventually going to be spamed. Does anyone know the correct size strut and maybe post a picture of the installation for me, I (and espically my wife) would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help!

I haven't done this, but I found a decent Do-It-Yourself article from Boating magazine that might help you.
