Engine Hatch Actuator Source??

Does anyone have a source for a hatch actuator? The linear actuator Linak supplied Hurricane for my 2200 SD has failed after five years. I became intermittent after 3 years of service. Linak refuses to sell to anyone but a manufacturer. Hurricane refuses to sell to anyone but a franchised dealer. Dealers tell me it takes a minimum of 6 weeks to get parts, and the actuator Hurricane currently supplies is a poor solution as it does not allow for a mechanical override, that is, you cannot "power" it out by pulling on the hatch cover. I'm worried that the next failure will leave my I/O engine compartment sealed up unless I cut out the cover.

Usually (there are probably exceptions) there is access somewhere around the hatch area that gives you the ability to remove the pin that attaches the actuator to one of its brackets so you can manually open the hatch (something like a deck plate or engine ventilation grill).
Lenco is a brand name of electric hatch lifts that are most popular with the on-line stores. You may want to check them out and compare their reliability with Linak.

Also, you might also take a look at a hydraulic lift system to replace the electric actuator type you have now. Bennett makes this kind of system and seems to be available in the retail market and boat dealers .
