I have 2012 Hurricane 188 Sundeck Sport with one battery, located port side next to transom.

The access panel on the deck leaks water onto the battery and into the battery tray. Should I relocate the battery father forward or is there a way to prevent the panel from allowing rain water in?  Also want to install a battery switch.  Suggestion on location.

I'd be more concerned about fixing the leaking hatch.

Hatch leaks a bit on my 195 Sundeck.  Used self stick 1/4 inch rubber weatherstrip all around perimeter of hatch opening. Acts like a gasket and  seems to have done the trick.   Water will also wet the battery tray on its way to the bilge from the hull's drainage system.  My battery switch is on the transom opposite the battery.
