Electrical problem

My husband was running new light wires on our 1982 hurricane deck boat. He was under the steering column a blue wire that he says was not connected to any thing that ran with the wires from the ignitician switch to the back of boat. This wire touched metal and he said he saw sparks now we have no power to the boat. Nothing will come on. Not even the tilt. What can be the problem

    Perfect example of why disconnecting the battery/batteries is a good idea before doing any electrical work. There's a blown fuse/fuses somewhere, you'll have to find it, possibly under the cover of the motor. Before replacing fuse(s), be sure to repair all wiring connections that are in need so it doesn't happen again.
