Steering Issue

Hello folks!
I have a 99 Hurricane FunDeck 201 with a Mercruiser V6 engine. Whenever I put it in reverse and turn wheel to STARBOARD the boat refuses to go in that direction, unless I gun it. This problem occurs when I am in a no wake zone and attempting to dock/launch/trailer the boat. This is my first I/O boat, but I don't think that's normal.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might happen??
Thanks!!

It is normal actually, it has to do with the direction of thrust when the blades are spinning backwards, it's more noticable with a I/O but bigger boats with outboards do it too.
Takes practice but you can still back up to starboard side without gunning it by using small blips of forward to turn the boat, or if you have your passengers stand on starboard side when backing up that will help too.
