Help running new transducer cable in my FD226

I'm replacing the old Lowrance fishfinder/GPS with a Garmin 44dv, which means I need to remove the old transducer ad install the new one that came with the Garmin.  It looks like the old transducer is transom-mounted and I can follow the cable up into the battery compartment.  However I can't see how to easily get from this compartment, under the deck, and up into the instrument panel.  Does anyone have any insight?

    I contacted my dealer and here's his response, hope it helps both of you:

    MOST BOATS HAVE A ROPE THREADED THRU THE BOAT FROM THE HELM TO THE BILGE AREA FOR THAT.  THE ROPE IS LIKE SHRINK WRAP STRING.
