my bilge pump can be turned on from a toggle switch on the dash and works well. I tiought this bilge pump was automatic. I guess not. can anyone shed light on this? Thanks

It should have both modes-- automatic is directly connected to the battery. It operates with a float-type switch. Switched on mode via the dash switch should only work when the main power is on.

Another quick comment-- if you havent heard it run in auto mode, consider putting water in the bilge to check that it's float switch works.

Thanks for all of your help!

I looked at the fuse that is near the battery. This fuse is between the battery and the bilge pump. It was burned out. Seems a lot of water pours down the hatchway above the battery and shorted out the fuse. A lousy location for a fuse. Should be relocated further away. pump now works on automatic.

P.S. Thanks to Donmat whose post on this bilge pump problem, solved my dilemma. Thank You !!!

Is the inline fuse just for the automatic mode of operation. Mines works in manual mode (switch at panel), not sure if it ever worked in automatic.

yes the inline fuse is for auto operation. The fuse probably burned out because of the location. Remove the port side rear hatch. pull out the inner molded bucket. you will see the fuse link. Replace with a new 5 amp fuse and cover the new fuse with waterproof zip lock bag
