No throttle response

I have a 2013 Hurricane Sport SunDeck with 3.0 Mercruiser I/O. Took it out for an hour run on a local lake, stopped briefly for lunch, restarted the boat. Motor kicked over, engaged the throttle and nothing happened. Motor ran as if in neutral, engine increased rpm's, no movement at all. Towed in. Possibilities? Thanks.
