Battery Compartment Vent

I have a 2004 Hurricane SunDeck 260. There is a hole in the port side of my transom splashwell.  Anyone know of this hole is a battery compartment vent?  I’ve seen pictures of other 260’s and the later 2700’s and there looks to be a vent covering the hole.
