New owner of a used 2015 Hurricane Sundeck 188 outboard - when bringing the motor up, it does not completely come out of the water.  The prop is all the way out, but the very bottom part is still below the waterline. Is that typical? Thanks in advance.

The condition you describe is not necessarily unusual.  Usually the motor lifting mechanism is either working or not working.  Rarely is there a limitation of movement, although it can happen.  Also, the rear draft of your boat can be a contributing factor in having the motor be in that position.  If you are concerned, you should contact a dealer of the manufacturer of your outboard and ask about the lifting dimensions.
