Wrong HIN

So I buy a 2002 GS211, take title to motor vehicle with a rubbing of the HIN. It doesnt match the title. So I get ahold of Virginia motor vehicle and they have a copy of the title and the MSO. They both have the same HIN but it doesnt match the boat. Apparently some one at Godfrey used a captial I instead of the number 1 in the HIN. The capital 1 looks like the roman numeral 1 so motorvehicle says its and I (eye) and not a 1. How do I get ahold of Godfrey to fix this. Apparently, no one has caught it all these years as I am the 4th owner. Thanks also to the add to the group. Hope Im an asset lol

so apparently you are not supposed to use an capital I or O in the hin number. Godfrey used a 1 for a capital I making the number on hull not match MSO

Seems like the easiest way to fix this would be to make a rubbing that clearly shows the digit as a 1. They aren't inspecting the actual hull, just a rubbing, right? You only need to do it one time and you are good. But since you already started the process with the title office, it might be a problem. Use your imagination.
