2008 Volvo penta fuel pressure

We have an 08 25 foot sundeck with a 5.7 GXI-JF. I had a high pressure pump die and replaced it. Now when idling or with RPM the high pressure fuel pump will sound like it goes to max pressure, the engine will roughen up and die. Will restart immediately. I put a pressure gauge in the fuel port on the fuel rails and have 55 psi on key up. After running for 2 to 10 minutes pressure will spike and stay at 100 psi. I've removed the regulator and inspected it, not leaking and diaphragm is intact. I see that the return line, from the fuel rail, goes back to the Carter fuel block assy. I don't understand if this return side could be causing the pressure to get so high. Any help would be appreciated.

I would have to suggest reaching out to a Volvo rep for further assistance.

Forgot to shut down thread. The fuel pressure regulator in the fuel rail was the problem. Note, if anyone has this issue, the GM part number on the regulator will not come up in the catalogs. It has to found using the Bosch part number stamped on it. I found it for under $20 on Amazon.
