Bow Fishing Chair Replacement for CC231

The bow fishing chair post has never slid into the slot because it's too tight -- It won't go low enough to secure the chair, & if we force it then we can't easily remove it.
- Has anyone else had this issue?
- Is there another option other than replacement of the whole system?
My boat guy is thinking of using a Dremel to trim away some of the plastic so the post can slide in easier.
