Looking to buy a 187

Hello, New to this forum while I research Hurricane boats. I'm on an inland lake (Skaneateles) and presently own a '97 Mariah but my grandchildren are getting bigger and so we need more space. I think the 187 is the best size for us right now, (would love a 191 but a bit over my price range) - will be using the boat mostly for day cruising and tubing. Should I hold out for a 150 motor, and do I need trim tabs on the boat to help it plane out when tubing? Also any other suggestions? The lake can get choppy but I usually don't go out on windy (over 12 mph) days.
