Fuel Gauge Issue

I have a 2001 Hurricane Fun Deck GS201. I have had it about 10 years with no major problems. I had it out this past week for the first time after picking it up from storage at my local marina. I noticed that the fuel gauge was not registering after putting about 5 gal of fuel in. It always has registered around half full previously. I have been told this could be an electrical problem or the float in the fuel tank. On this forum I have downloaded schematics for harness hull numbers 01 and 99 and panel gauge schematic FD201. Are these the correct ones for my boat? How do I access the fuel gauge to check the wiring? Is there a fuse in one of the electrical lines to the gauge? Do I have to remove the dash panel? Also, how do I access the fuel tank to check the fuel level float?

There should be a 6 inch access port under the rear seat in the well where a portable toilet mounts. As far as I know, that is the only access to the top of the fuel tank where the sending unit is located. I have the same make and model and have replaced the sending unit a couple times in the 13 years we have owned this boat.
