I have a 2012 Sundeck 202 io with 4.3l mercury.

It is very hard to steer at low speed and hard to dock. It wonders from side to side and it is impossible to steer straight. Hurricane claims they have not had a lot of complaints but dealer says this is a common problem with this boat. The dealer tried some different props but none that helped.
Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution?

@tksjss@bellsouth.net ... response from Terri in Hurricane Customer Support:
This is a symptom that all short LOA, shallow deadrise boats exhibit at idle/low speeds. This is caused by the shallow deadrise and the boat not sitting deep in the water. Wind direction, boat load, and water flow direction all contribute to this type of boat exhibiting more or less wandering at slow speeds. It is a trade-off for being able to get the boat into shallow water and easier planing with a smaller motor. This is similar to the compromise that a flat bottomed skiff offers in that it planes with minimal HP but it pounds really hard in any kind of chop.

It's due to poor design. I have the 2013 sport deck 202IO with same engine and it does the same thing. Somewhat embarrassing when people think you can't drive straight right?
