How to remove the fixed ski tow bar

Hi everybody,
I'm wondering how to remove the ski tow bar from a SD 187 OB.
Is it just a question of turning it counter clock wise or is there a pin or bold that holds it in place?
I ban barely see anything in there so I can't figure it out. I have a tendency of using muscle power to fix any problem but that method has gotten me in trouble more times than I care to remember.
The reason I want to do this, I'm looking at purchasing a custom travel cover from Carver covers and it won't work if I can remove the tow bar.
Thanks everybody.

MB...here's the answer from one of the Hurricane engineers:The ski tow bar can be removed when the stern seat back is removed from the holding clips on the deck. Behind the seat back is a 5" access cover that has the base for the ski tow bar. There is a bolt, washer, and nut that have the bar secured to the base that can be removed with a 7/16" socket or wrench. Once this is done, then the cover and seat back can be put back on.

Thank you for the quick response. Found it. It very simple when you know what to look for. Unfortunately it's not something that can be done after each day on the water. Will have to look at options.

Sure...glad you're here!

Can anyone recommend something? I've got the exact same issue. It works get on the water but it hits my boat lift if the water gets too high. I see there are telescoping ones on some of the 2013 models. Would they fit? Anything after market?

What boat model/year do you have?

2012 188 Sundeck sport OB. Thanks.

Cool. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How far below the deck does the ski tow bar go until it attaches to its base?
And is the bar solid throughout or hollow?
Do they have ratings regarding how much stress they can handle (just trying to determine if it can pull a 200 lb slalom skier out of the water.)
Thanks.
