Have subject boat with 200hp yamaha outboard and hydraulic steering.  Takes 8 turns of steering lock to lock which seems excessive particularly when turning to pick up downed skier.  Also hard to keep on line during general cruising.  Someone said maybe air in hydraulic line.  I am new to forum and would appreciate anyone's thoughts.  Like the boat otherwise.  Thanks in advance for your help.

It should be 5 turns lock to lock, you have air in the system and it needs to be bleed out, get some sea star fluid and turn the wheel hard over a few times, then remove the cap on the helm and add fluid to the top, replace cap and repeat until there is fluid right at the top when the cap is removed, do not over tighten the cap, finger tight only, don't be afraid to turn the wheel too far, it will feel like you might damage something but you won't, needs to be turned that hard to properly bleed it.
