I am currently running a 14.5 X 17 Yamaha stainless prop. Turns 5400 r p m at 46 m p h. Would dropping pitch to 15 in. give me more speed? R p m's should increase about 200-250 to about 5600- 5650. Any ideas? What props are being run ? Engine is a 2017 Yamaha 150 4 stroke. 25 inch shaft . Thanks

On my 2013 SS188 with a Yamaha F150 I changed my Yamaha SS Reliance SDS 17" pitch 14.25" diameter prop for the Turbo 2+2TH  16" pitch 14" diameter prop.  I have had pretty good luck with this setup.  See the attached link below to an older discussion.

Thanks TNriver. I was thinking the same thing about reducing the pitch by 1 inch Not a lot of 3 blade 16 in. pitch props.

I am ordering a Solas New Saturn Stainlees prop, #3531-145-15, its on sale at Wholesale marine for $235 and free shipping. This should give more speed. Holeshot may suffer. Can't test until spring as we have very cold temps and snow now in Ct. !!!
