We have a 2016 SD 187 with a 175 Yamaha and I believe it is rated up to a 200 HP on newer models

After dealing with my 115 Yamaha 4 stroke with getting out of the hole, I purchased a 150 Evinrude G Tec. I slam it full throttle and within seconds I'm on plane with no problem. I don't need to trim until I'm cruising along.

I have a 2014 SD2000 with an Evinrude 150hp and it's fine. Guess because it's a 2-stoke. Only if the boat is loaded with 7-8 people and coolers do I wish I had a 200+

Our 2001 SD217 with the Yamaha 150 2-stroke jumps out of the water.  Runs 37mph.  Great set-up.
