Is the bilge cover on a Hurricane 217 designed to be water tight?

I am constantly having to pump out the bilge after a rain.  Do I need a new Blige cover seal to prevent the water intrusion into the bilge?  Thanks PadreMike

    This is not a water tight compartment.   Do you have an automatic bilge switch set up on your boat?  This may help with the manual pumping with the helm switch.
