Unhappy wander

Recently purchased a 2017 Hurricane with a 150 Yamaha. Nice right? Problem is the major lack of steering in a no-wake zone. Darned thing likes to wander. I looked into whale tails and smart tabs from Nauticus but don't want to make a stupid purchase and put holes in the boat, you know, for nothing. Anyone else having this problem or a fix?

I'm new to my boat as of last summer. Same thing. The guy at the marina said that it's typical with the flatter hulls and to not try to correct it. Let it self correct...which it does. Does making docking more difficult for me as I'm used to a true deep V.

Interesting. Up until I bought my Hurricane, I have owned deep V boats. I find that the deep V wandered more and took more time to plane than the Hurricane. I put Nauticus Smart Tabs on the deep V and it greatly improved both but have not done it on the Huricane since it has not been as bad. You won't be disappointed with the smart tabs and they can assist you with selecting the right tab for your particular boat. I would suggest the stainless tabs over the composite however. They will also lower your planing speed which I likes. (Stay on plane at lower speeds)

Thanks guys. I've found that seating passengers in the rear helps. Also, at 1,200 rpm's, there is no wake and improves direction.

Yep, put the passengers in the back, and be sure the motor is trimmed all the way down.

Late to the Party here! does anyone have more insight on the smart tabs? Hurricane 198 with Yamaha 115, It does seem slow to plane, and definetely wanders at no wake speed, should I make the purchase and install? is there a better smart tab than another? (stainless vs. composite? thanks in advance!

I found that putting on a steering wheel knob helped immensely when wandering thru no wake zones.
