Awesome job MichaelBee!  Thanks for post some more trolling motor pics, I'm sure they will be a big help to others.

Thanks, I have a new 226 fundeck with the chairs. I'm putting on a minnkota 80# thrust, 60 inch shaft and I'm interested in where I should install it.

My SS 188 OB came with the fishing package that has the prewire for the motor. I bought the Riptide 70SP 54" with ipilot. Looking at all the pictures its hard to tell exactly....but can any tell me in inches how far over the bracket must be? I am using the RTA-17 quick release for the riptides. my guess is the mounting puck is as close to the edge as you can get it??? But i saw one picture where the guy said he was only able to use 3 holes. That seems scary. any help on my specific model would be greatly appreciated.

Although my model is the SunDeck Series, I do have the dual fishing chairs mounted on the front deck similar to yours.  I also had the fishing package installed on my boat so the trolling motor plug is located under the starboard fishing seat.  I did have to overhang my MKA-32 quick release bracket a bit over the bow to properly position the motor.  5 out of the 6 mounting bolts were used and the mount is very sturdy.  I used this mount because it had a bigger footprint as I knew I would have to mount it overhung.

Here's a link to a thread that shows pictures of my install:

I was able to use all 4 holes by going straight back with the motor.  The bolts are also going through a wood backing underneath and silicone was applied between the puck and the platform. Everything else will break before that puck actually moves.

I reversed the motor on the plate and only used 4 of the 6 holes to attach the motor. This moves everything forward so the shaft is several inches from the edge.

The problem with this setup comes from the fact that the pivot point for the weight is in front of the puck. This puts more stress on the locking pin that must support the weight of the motor.

I will probably add a plate between puck (MKA-22 Adapter plate). This will support the motor and remove the stress on the pin.

The reason I went straight back is because I felt that it left the swim platform available for use.
