Since I wanted a boat strictly for crappie fishing, I wanted a large flat deck with lots of room, and little in the way of creature comforts. So, the demo begins. photo P4210033_zps99ad2007.jpg photo P4210037_zps5828b484.jpg Someone must have used seacast (or similar), so it took cutting out a section of the motorwell to get the deck off. photo P4210036_zps5243cd5a.jpg photo P4210001_zps59bad6d6.jpg

I removed roughly 1200 pounds of waterlogged foam, naturally, everything in the back half of the hull was rotten. photo P4210004_zps97221546.jpg photo P4210006_zps8e3263e5.jpg photo P4220009_zpsce48ac57.jpg photo P4230001_zps041d8a86.jpg

Even the deck sheeting was rotten, as were the deck supports. photo P4240020_zpsd358144c.jpg photo P4240022_zps91ae8dff.jpg Whoever installed the front livewell, cut-out the bow stringers. This came into play later when I had to trim 1.5" off the top of the hull at the bow to allow the deck to set level again. Of course the stringers were replaced and livewell eliminated. photo P4250005_zpsdf77f00a.jpg More deck sheeting photo P4270008_zps712a39fd.jpg I'd be curious as to why they built this boat with what appears to be scrap pieces of sheeting, as opposed to larger sheets. Regardless, it all came off. photo P4280002_zps2ea3e07b.jpg

Everything went back twice as thick. Like they say "Overkill is underrated". photo P4280003_zps0cde9a0f.jpg photo P4280004_zps78cedd39.jpg photo P4290003_zps0f959c72.jpg Underside of deck got 3/4" (instead of the 1/2" used initially). photo P4300001_zps1e01c9c5.jpg

New support blocks for deck supports photo P5030011_zpsa1ab2072.jpg Additional bracing under deck at ski locker area, which will be where the center console will eventually set. photo P5030012_zps3952c1d6.jpg Remember I said I trimmed 1.5" from the bow profile? Here's the start of the re-profile. Boat was a mess for sure, but was exactly what I was looking for. photo P5050008_zps2111526a.jpg photo P5050009_zps7215f995.jpg

Basically built a platform that mimicked the trailer bunks photo P5140002_zps938e5fbf.jpg and slid the hull off the trailer right onto the base photo P5140004_zps9dbc24e9.jpg Which let me start on the trailer, it had been butchered too. I converted the back vertical side rollers to bunks. photo P5180003_zps5150ada7.jpg photo P5180008_zps93fbfafc.jpg
